St. Edward Catholic School Supports and Facilitates Social and Emotional Learning
Overview
The guidance and counseling program aligns with the mission of St. Edward Catholic School by supporting the academic achievement and social-emotional growth of all students. In an atmosphere of respect and understanding, they work with students to help them develop self-knowledge, positive attitudes, communication, and decision-making skills so they will become all that God is calling them to be.
Services
- Meeting with students either individually or in small groups to provide short-term counseling
- Offering classroom guidance
- Consulting and collaborating with teachers to support student achievement
- Liaising with parents
- Providing referrals and resources
- Conducting or participating in parent-teacher meetings
- Facilitating the Monarchs with Merit Character Education Program which centers around the virtues of faith, hope, charity, prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance
- Facilitating the Social Emotional Learning Program which helps students acquire and apply knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop greater self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making
Referrals
Students may be referred by a teacher, parent, administrator, or through self-referral to participate in short-term counseling focused on improving their educational experience. If you need assistance or have a concern about your child, you can call St. Edward Catholic School at 281-353-4570.
